Waconia is a growing community located 33 miles west of the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul. Waconia is home to nearly 11,000 people and is growing steadily. The City is nestled next to scenic Lake Waconia – a fully recreational lake with public beaches, fishing, and shoreline restaurants. Waconia offers residents a healthy environment as well as growing economic development, strong schools and excellent health care facilities.
Its downtown peppered with quaint stores, a local brewery, and fun restaurants, Waconia has a small town feel but with an updated vibe. Waconia hosts several exciting events throughout the year including runs, festivals in the park, and events centered around the Lake. The 4th of July fireworks bring people from all over to watch from the lake and surrounding shoreline.
The Waconia Community Center, Safari Island, opened in the Spring of 2001. Safari Island is the result of a collaborative effort between the City of Waconia and ISD #110. It offers a zero depth pool for children with water features and slides, and also includes aquatics for all levels, fitness and meeting areas.
Waconia also lends itself to many outdoor activities given the nearby lakes, golf courses, and ball fields. Home to 24 community and neighborhood parks, Waconia is an active, family-friendly community. Waconia is also home of Island View Golf Club, and golfers have easy access to many other excellent golf courses.
Waconia offers many housing choices ranging from old to new and in many price points. The real estate options include single family homes, executive neighborhoods, lake front property, townhomes, condominiums, hobby and horse farms, and acreages.
